Rearview Neon Light

Verse

Last exit's fireflies against the black sky

Twin taillights cutting through a drift of haze

You drum your hand on the passenger door

I'm counting down every mile before we break apart

Roller coasters fade into static hum

The neon sign back there said 'welcome to fun

Pre-Chorus

Can you feel it start to pull us wide?

Something's moving in a darkened tide

Chorus

Rearview neon light, it's still burning bright

Rearview neon light, it's lighting up the night

We're chasing ghosts and running out of time

Burning fire on a highway in my mind

Rearview neon light, it's shining like a sign

Taking me where I want to go tonight

Verse

Canned laughter echoes from a parking lot party

Your hand drops low across the gearshift floor

A lonely trumpet wails past 2:45 AM

We're rolling down a stretch of road we've never seen before

Bridge

No more exits, just the glow behind

Let's run this road until we find our own ground

No one left but engine hum and the dark above

We keep on driving like we're made of gold

Chorus

Rearview neon light, it's still burning bright

Rearview neon light, it's lighting up the night

We're chasing ghosts and running out of time

Burning fire on a highway in my mind

Rearview neon light, it's shining like a sign

Taking me where I want to go tonight
