Ditch Road Radio 2: Keep Me Alive

Verse

Radiator's broken on the old blue van

Engine knocks like it's counting down

Tire's bald on the driver's side

Still I keep my foot to the ground

Bottle of bourbon in the glove box

Gas station attendant just nods and stays put

I've been running this stretch since dawn

Watched the whole town wake up from the dark

Pre-Chorus

Now I'm low on gas, low on fuel

Radio's playing static where it should be clear

Chorus

Keep me alive one more mile

Keep the engine purring like a fire

Don't you die now, don't let go

Keep me alive till I make it home

Keep me alive one more mile

Sweat and smoke but still I smile

Radio's crackling out of time

But keep me alive

Verse

Sign on the corner says 'Welcome to town

Every face looks like they're a hundred years old

Sun cuts down in slits through the blinds

I've been running this road till it knows my name

Last light left, last fuel left

Still I won't turn off this beat

You know how hard it is to be free

You got your foot on the gas, not me

Pre-Chorus

Now I'm low on gas, low on fuel

Radio's playing static where it should be clear

Chorus

Keep me alive one more mile

Keep the engine purring like a fire

Don't you die now, don't let go

Keep me alive till I make it home

Keep me alive one more mile

Sweat and smoke but still I smile

Radio's crackling out of time

But keep me alive

Bridge

I know you think the dark is closing in

But I been running this road for a long, long time

Don't look back just look down on the wheel

You'll get to where you're going if you just keep it real

Fuel light's red but we ain't done yet

This engine's burning like a coal in your chest

Chorus

Keep me alive one more mile

Keep the engine purring like a fire

Don't you die now, don't let go

Keep me alive till I make it home

Keep me alive one more mile

Sweat and smoke but still I smile

Radio's crackling out of time

But keep me alive
